It was a great pear year.

Pears come out in abundance every other year, given the weather and pollinators. This year was magnificent. I’m fortunate to have a variety of fruit trees around the yard that supplies me with unlimited opportunities to create art, not to mention food, and a bit of wine.

Growing food locally will become more important if we want to move toward a decentralized planet. I have two pear trees I planted 30 years ago and have produced abundantly. I just planted two more as I realize that a tree has a limited life span and will want to leave some trees for the next caretakers of this quarter acre property.
